Bring the Sun:The 2011 Summer Fundraiser
The Sunrise Day Camp is soon having its “Bring The Sun: The 2011 Summer Fundraiser” on June 29th, 2011. This evening of enjoyment with a performance by the Kal Nwaneri Band will raise money to send children with cancer to camp.
The cost of sending only one child to Sunrise Day Camp is $6000 and Sunrise is funded exclusively through private donations, like those from Corey Ribotsky, and by special events of this sort. The evening fundraiser is being created by Chairman Scott Martin, Co-Chairperson Hana Ramat, Co-Sponsor Aron James, and Sponsoring-Associate Daniel Adler.
This beautiful and important event will take place at the Capitale, located at 130 Bowery Street in New York City.
Join the Light The Night Walk…and Get Movie Tickets
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society which Corey Ribotsky helps to support, is always cooking up some brilliant new fundraising activity. At the moment, from March 15th through May 30th, people can earn free movie tickets when they register for Light The Night Walk and raise at least $100.
For every $100 that people raise during this period, they will receive one free Fandango movie ticket. There is no limit set to the number of movie tickets that a participant can earn! This means that participants will raise money for cancer research, participate in the fun Light The Night Walk, and benefit by receiving their own free movie tickets.
Every little bit counts for an organization like LLS that is raising money to fight blood cancer. Donors such as Corey Ribotsky and the Light The Night Walk participants will be contributing to an exceptional cause while raising awareness about this deadly disease.
Sunrise on Wheels Helping Kids
The Sunrise Day Camp, which Corey Ribotsky and the NIR Group help to support, is an incredible program that helps children with cancer. In addition to their camp offerings, they have a program called Sunrise on Wheels which is a year-round outreach program for children and families in Outpatient Clinics.
The Sunrise Day Camp volunteers will come to the hospital with their tie-dye trunk at the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. They are onsite every Monday and Friday morning and help children to get through the long process of dealing with the hospital process.
The day in the hospital can be a very tense and difficult one as they wait to see doctors, to get lab results back and to have check-ups. They bring in toys, games, puzzles and projects for the children. The trunk includes mind teasers like Mancala, group games, coloring books, crafts and so much more.
Corey Ribotsky’s Philanthropy News
The Onyx & Breezy Foundation – of which Corey Ribotsky is a supporter – just held its Second Annual Island Gala. In attendance were 155 supporters of the foundation which was set up to safeguard the welfare of domestic animals.
Guests were privy to stand-up comedienne Wendy Liebman an American Comedy Award “Best Female Stand-Up” winner and the actor Ken Howard who is the charity’s executive board member and national spokesman. The latter pointed out how donors need not worry; every dollar is going to the care of the animals. Indeed Wanda Shefts expanded this point by saying, “every dollar that we raise, through fundraising efforts like the Island Gala, goes towards helping animals in Lee County. In a way, we feel like we're a compliment to organizations like CROW. They help the animals in the wild, and we help the animals in your home.”
This certainly is good news for those like Corey Ribotsky who work hard to support the important work of this foundation. The last thing you want is to be putting your money into an organization, only to discover later on that it is not going directly to the care of the animals, about whose welfare you are extremely concerned.
New Foundation Family Members at Onyx & Breezy
The Onyx & Breezy Foundation, which looks out for the welfare of animals, has recently welcomed some new members to the Foundation Family. The Foundation Family includes Trustees Mark Shefts and Wanda Shefts; Advisors such as Carole Bernstein, ESQ; Executive Board Members such as Kimberly Towers; and Foundation Members like Corey Ribotsky of the NIR Group.
Recently, a few people have joined the Foundation Family. Michelle and John Baldino are now part of this family. They have always been helpful to the Foundation. Michele, according to the Onyx & Breezy Foundation most recent newsletter, recently ran a marathon to benefit the Foundation.
Another addition to the Foundation Family is Dr. Christopher Hunt, an Orthopedic Surgeon at Animal Emergency Referral Associates. He has supported the Foundation since its founding and he has provided medical care at discounted prices for many emergency cases.
Onxy & Breezy Foundation 2nd Annual Island Gala
On March 27th, 2011, The Onyx & Breezy Foundation will be having their second annual Island Gala. This is certainly an event not to be missed as the founders of the foundation, Mark and Wanda Shefts get ready to host the evening. The evening of comedy, fine dining, dancing and live and silent auctions will take place this year at The Sanctuary Golf Club.
This year, entertainment will be provided by comedienne Windy Liebman, the winner of the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-Up. Actor Ken Howard, the national spokesman and executive board member for The Onyx and Breezy Foundation, which the NIR Group and Corey Ribotsky help to support, will be attending.
One of the goals this year is to raise more than the $47,000 last year raised in the live and silent auctions. It will certainly be a night to remember and one that the founders hope will raise a great deal of money to help animals in need.
Corey Ribotsky on Real Estate
One of the activities of the NIR Group is a Real Estate fund. The main service it offers is mortgage loans which has “different levels and types of risks than mortgage loans originated by more traditional lenders (such as banks, insurance companies or conduit lenders).” Thus these loans generally return a higher yield, shorter-term. In general with hard money mortgage loans like the ones offered by NIR the borrower incurs a more costly fee, there is a greater demand for such loans due to the following factors: the borrower wanting to “limit equity dilution” due to involving an equity investor to provide the necessary funds; “tighter loan underwriting standards” used by the standard mortgage lenders and “borrowing timing issues” that need an “expedited loan closing” that do not incur the delays regular financing usually means.
Sunrise Day Camp Upcoming Events
Mark your calendars for March 9 to help benefit Sunrise Day Camp. You are invited to a private shopping event in NYC. Situated at Bergdorf Goodman, next month you will be privy to champagne and hors d’oeuvres and the talents of personal shoppers on the premises while going on a private shop at the store. As well there will be a great raffle with prizes from top designers. So indulge a little, and, while you’re doing it, remember what benefit you will be giving to Sunrise Day Camp. Corey Ribotsky is a supporter of Sunrise Day Camp, the “only dedicated day camp in the nation for children with cancer.”
Specialization at NIR Group Explained by Corey Ribotsky
The NIR Group, headquartered in Roslyn New York, is a unique investment firm which places it emphasis on specialization. Corey Ribotsky, managing member and head portfolio manager sees the advantages of specialization in the following way:
“We believe at the NIR Group that specialization gives our investors the best road to meeting their goals. Our guiding principle is to adhere to a consistent core strategy and then follow through with it to the greatest extent possible. Each fund we create has a particular strategy in mind, giving each fund the ability to focus on and succeed according to its pre-established core strengths. The idea behind the philosophy of specialization is that it gives our investors at NIR the ability to choose the single strategy that they wish to follow, giving them exactly what they want."
