LLS Launches “Call for Cures”

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society recently launched an important organization called Call for Cures.  This is a “virtual” march on Capitol Hill which focuses on influencing elected officials online and in each person’s home states and cities.  Their efforts will focus on two main issues: Cures Acceleration Network (CAN) and the effort to get September declared by Congress as “Blood Cancer Awareness Month.”

Certainly, this is one of the many ways that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is working to get its important messages heard.  Donations from those like Corey Ribotsky and the NIR Group, advocacy and active support all help in the fight again cancer.

FDA Approval as Reported by LLS

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society works tirelessly to help in the fight against cancer.  Certainly, the support that they receive from their fundraising events and from donors such as Corey Ribotsky, helps in this enterprise.

In addition, they are always following the latest FDA approvals in cancer drugs and other research developments.  In the most recent medical news, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved a new indication for Tasigna (nilotinib) which treats a rare blood cancer when first diagnosed.  The cancer is called Philadelphia chromosome positive chronic phase chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CP-CML), and it is a slowly progressing blood and bone marrow disease linked to a genetic abnormality.

This new indication allows for more use of Tasigna in adult patients who are in the early stages of this disease.

Sunrise Day Camp Looks Ahead to the Golf Classic

The Sunrise Day Camp is the only dedicated day camp in the country specifically created for children with cancer and their siblings.  Children enjoy a new beginning free of charge as they form friendships, participate in camp activities and enjoy a chance to feel like regular kids.

On August 16, 2010, Sunrise Day Camp, supported by Corey Ribotsky and so many others, will host the Samuel Levine Memorial Golf Classic.  Have fun at the golf classic, while knowing that you are supporting the Sunrise Day Camp with any funds you spend at the event.  Join the camp, as well, to honor Paul Brensilber, Roddey Dowd Jr. and Jordan Ziegler on this special day.

In addition, Sunrise Day Camp has taken their journal green!  Their virtual ad journal will be screened for the first time at the Golf Classic and viewed online throughout the year.  Have fun while supporting a very worthy cause.
